प्रस्तुत अध्ययन छात्राओं द्वारा उच्च माध्यमिक स्तर पर विषय वर्ग चयन को निर्धारित करने वाले कारकों का विश्लेषण करता है । इसमें कला, विज्ञान और वाणिज्य वर्गों के चयन को व्यक्तिगत रुचि, शैक्षिक योग्यता, पारिवारिक पृष्ठभूमि, आर्थिक स्थिति, अभिभावकों के प्रभाव, साथियों के दबाव तथा विद्यालयीय सुविधाओं के आधार पर परखा गया है। अध्ययन के निष्कर्ष बताते हैं कि जहाँ कुछ छात्राएँ अपनी रुचि एवं भविष्य की संभावनाओं को ध्यान में रखकर विषय वर्ग का चयन करती हैं, वहीं अभिभावकों, शिक्षकों तथा विद्यालय में उपलब्ध विषयों का भी महत्वपूर्ण प्रभाव देखा गया है। साथ ही, उचित करियर मार्गदर्शन, जागरूकता एवं सही जानकारी के अभाव जैसी कमियाँ भी सामने आई हैं। यह अध्ययन दर्शाता है कि कई मामलों में छात्राओं का चयन उनकी वास्तविक अभिरुचि एवं क्षमता से पूर्णतः मेल नहीं खाता। अतः विषय वर्ग चयन प्रक्रिया को अधिक छात्रा-केंद्रित, जागरूकता-आधारित एवं मार्गदर्शन युक्त बनाने की आवश्यकता है, जिससे बेहतर शैक्षिक निर्णय और भविष्य के अवसर सुनिश्चित किए जा सकें।
