Abstract

This paper provides an in depth analysis of the legal framework that governs sports activities in India, examining the intersection of constitutional provisions, legislative statutes, and institutional governance structures. With keywords such as sports law, sports governance, National Sports Code, athlete welfare, Indian Olympic Association, sports policy, and sports corruption, the research delves into the evolution, challenges, and reforms necessary to address the existing gaps. The study evaluates key statutory laws such as the National Sports Development Code (NSDCI), the Prevention of Corruption Act, and the Sports (Development) Bill. The paper also highlights the roles of various national and international bodies in shaping India’s sports governance, discussing the complexities in sports administration and the urgent need for systemic reforms. By comparing India’s sports legal framework with other international systems, the paper proposes future directions for creating a more transparent, accountable, and athletecentric sports governance system in India.
