Abstract
महाकवि भासः प्राचीनभारतस्य प्रसिद्धः संस्कृतनाट्यकारः कविः च आसीत्। महाकविः भासः संस्कृतसाहित्ये तत्रापि विशेषतः नाट्यसाहित्याकाशस्य जाज्वल्यमानो नक्षत्रमासीत्। आधुनिककालेऽपि तस्य नाट्यकलां कविताशैलीञ्च दृष्ट्वा काव्यरसिका मोदन्तेतमाम्। महाकविः भासः संस्कृतसाहित्ये यदा नाटकं लिखितुं प्रारब्धवान्, तदा नासीत् संस्कृतसाहित्ये कस्यापि तादृशं नाटकं यदवलोक्य निर्दिष्टं नाट्यकलां गृहीत्वा नाटकं रचितुं शक्नुयात्। भासस्य कृतिषु या नाट्यकला सा भासस्य स्वात्मभूता। जन्मकालोऽयं संस्कृतनाटकस्य यदा भास एवं एतादृशः प्रथमो नाट्यकारः यस्य कृतेरनुकरणेन संस्कृतसाहित्ये मनोहराति-मनोहरतमं नाटकं साम्प्रतमपि दृश्यते। भासस्य परवर्त्तिनो ये ये नाटककाराः समभूवन् ते सर्वेऽपि भासस्य ऋणभाजः सन्ति।
